Canadian tourist visa applications for the coming year could soon be submitted online.
The Tourism Ministry says a pilot program for the online application process is currently underway.
According to the ministry, applications will be processed online starting in October.
“This pilot program will allow us to make the process easier and faster, and it will also help ensure that Canadians have a better understanding of what we are doing to enhance the tourism experience of the country,” Tourism Minister Denis Lebel said in a release.
In a statement, the government says it expects to be able to process the applications online in about three months.
“We look forward to the completion of the pilot program as well as the arrival of our online applications in mid-December.”
Tourism Canada says it plans to launch the pilot in October, and that the online process will be open to Canadians of all ages and backgrounds.
